Offense Falters as Defense Rallies in Lions’ Loss to Oakland

Right out of the gate, the Galileo Lions fumbled away their first 2 possessions, putting early pressure on it’s defense. Galileo’s defense did answer the call, holding ground against Oakland’s running game but 3 big pass plays and a controversial kick-off return for a score by the Wildcats were the difference. Senior outside backer, Alvin Li, and sophomore cornerback, Donovan Hasson both recorded their first interceptions of the season but were also culprits of 2 Oakland arial scores. Li’s pick which he returned to Oakland’s 3-yard line allowed the Lions to make it interesting-following a quarterback sneak it was 21-14. Though the excitement of the game was short-lived when Oakland answered, scoring on a deep corner pass. Galileo couldn’t put 2 and 2 together after that as the Oakland night turned chilly. The Lions finished with a 1-3 pre-season record but have shown improvement with each week.

Young Lions Win Back2Back Games to Finish 2-2 in Pre-season

Sophomore running back, Markell Vilce scored on a first half 25-yard run and a second half 32-yard reception to lead the young Lions to a 2-2 non-league record. Galileo’s offense lost 4 fumbles, 1 at the Wildcats 1-yard line but Galileo’s defense answered with a safety to make it 8-0 in the third quarter. The last time Galileo’s frosh soph team won back to back games was in the 2010 season.
