LIONS END SEASON WITH PLAYOFF LOSS
Turnovers End Galileo’s Season
|#2 Galileo Lions||00||00||00|
|#3 Mission Bears||20||07||27|
At Galileo’s George White Field with the wind and rain howling sideways most of the game, the Lions, after a 4-week and change hiatus, took on a Mission Bears team with revenge on it’s mind for their last 2 losses, the 2017 championship onslaught and the 2018 regular season fiasco. While Galileo was shaking off it’s 4-week rust, Mission took a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Galileo managed to move the ball and looked to make it a game but the end zone always seemed a first down away and that first down always just about 5-yards short.
Galileo quarterbacks, Ronald Fox and Matthew Tu accounted for 5 interceptions and had a rough day with botched snaps. As if things weren’t bad enough, the Lions were playing without one of their top playmakers, Yarvell Smith (academic suspension). The Bears took advantage of an absent Smith at the right edge and ran off 3 scores that direction.
Mission advances to play Lincoln for the city championship. Galileo finished their season with a 7-3 record overall, 3-1 non-league.
Galileo’s 4-week hiatus:

Week 1 – Washington forfeits
Week 2 – bye week
Week 3 – Balboa game postponed then cancelled due to poor air quality
Week 4 – Playoff vs Mission postponed due to poor air quality
