Senior quarterback, Ronald Fox continued to show growth in his first season behind center by completing a career best 6 of 11 passes for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns, both to Reese Bickart (3 rec, 78 yds). Fox also chipped in with an electrifying scramble and sprint up the right sideline for 61 yards into the endzone. Running backs Jimmie Edwards and Yarvell Smith took turns zigging and zagging to help the 2-0 Lions amass 398 yards on the ground. Edwards tallied 107 yards on 6 carries, scoring twice and Smith continued his dominance with 170 yards on 12 carries including 3 scores. Fox joined the 100-yard club with 5 carries for 101 yards. 

Edwards, the face of Galileo’s defense, tallied a respectable 11 tackles, 5 for loss and added 3 sacks. Junior linebacker, Kobe Cabuntala was the next man up with 10 tackles. Galileo’s 4 interceptions were a result of fine defense that kept Ygnacio Valley grounded all night; Michael Duran scored 1 of his 2 picks and caused a fumble recovered by Ryan Lee, Smith and Brandon Ho both had a pick each. Defensive tackles, Joseph Ale and Thomas Santos were a force behind the line of scrimmage; Ale (2 TFL, 2 sacks) and Santos (2 TFL, 1 sack) combined for 9 tackles of Galileo’s 38. The Lions as a team tallied 13 TFL’s and 8 sacks.

Freshman linebacker, Eduardo Silva and sophomore linebacker, Sergio Magana put on a tackling clinic to set the tone for the young lions’ and freshman defensive back, Danny King moved to outside linebacker to finish off the game with multiple tackles behind the line of scrimmage. Although, they put up 30 points, this squad is primed for great things defensively.
