Lions Eye Playoff After Blowout at Balboa
Galileo Rout Bucs in Tune-Up for Playoffs
Senior QB, Adrian Poot put on a show at the Balboa Buccaneer’s senior game with touchdown passes to Reese Bickart (twice), Jackie Guo and Erasmo Rivas. Poot continued to lead the AAA as the most efficient QB by putting up a statline of 12/18 164 passing yards and 3 rushes for 29 yards and a TD. Sophomore RB, Yarvell Smith wasn’t too shabby as he continued to show what he can do now that he is no longer hobbled by a bruised heel-Smith is finally healthy and it shows as he carried the ball 10 times for 136 yards and 2 TD’s. Though Galileo’s offense is running on all cylinders, it’s defense stole the show with junior linebacker, Jimmie Edward’s helmet-dislodging tackle 10-yards behind the line of scrimmage and junior free safety, Michael Duran’s first interception of the season.
The Lions finish the regular season with a 5-1 record, 7-2 overall. Fully healthy, Galileo is ready to make a deep playoff run.
Young Lions Come Up Short on Non-Call to End Season
A pass to the endzone from Matthew Tu flew off Robby Lee’s hands with 45 seconds left on the clock. However, there was much contact on Lee just prior to the touch but no flag was thrown and Balboa was able to run out the clock and escape to stay perfect in the AAA. Despite a poorly officiated game, Galileo had ample opportunities to take charge. In fact, Galileo scored more touchdowns than Balboa-in the end, Galileo’s missed PAT opportunities made the failed last attempt to Lee a minor detail in this missed opportunity. Nevertheless, the Young Lions finished the season in the positive, 3-3 (5-3-1).
