Galileo Claims 2009 AAA Crown!
Galileo 14–21 35
Lincoln 0–0 00
Quarterback, Dylan Nelson and wide receiver, Erik Wilson, connected twice in the first half for a 14–0 lead. Galileo’s defense, led by linebackers, Paul Hill, Chuck Jones and Shaun Numera, held Lincoln’s top running backs in check enroute to posting a shutout. Fullback, Pat Ale added two scores and electrifying junior running back, Quincy Nelson added one.
Up 14–0, Galileo came out in the second half with an on-side kick recovered by Ale. The lions would captitalize to go up 21–0 and essentially seal the game. The Mustangs threatened to score in the waning seconds at Galileo’s 10 but junior cornerback, William Kay picked off a pass in the endzone to preserve the shutout.
Both Nelsons and Ale topped the 100 yard rushing mark. This 16th championship breaks the previous record of 15 shared by Galileo and Polytechnic.
