Galileo Stuns Balboa in Final 5-minutes
October 27, 2011Galileo FS 06–20 26
Balboa FS 16–08 24
In a collective effort, Yanek Hakobyan shined brightest with his foot and his hands. Hakobyan nailed 2 first-half field goals and hauled in the go-ahead touchdown from quarterback, Kedraun Buckner. Down 19–24 with 2 minutes left in the game, nose tackle, Jose Gato stripped the runner and began running the wrong way before his teammates got his attention. Gato helped the Lions to a first down at the 50 yardline. Hakobyan caught a deep ball and then drew a passing interference flag a few plays later in the endzone. Galileo took a few shots at the endzone before Hakobyan’s game-winner with 18 seconds left on the clock. It’s been a tough and rough season but it goes to show that “hardwork does pay off”.
