2013 ALL-CITY LETTERMEN

The 2013 banner-season produced 5 league honors and 7 first team all-city players for Galileo. The Lions finished with a 12-1 record and went undefeated in league (9-0) to capture the school’s 17th city title.  Although 5 players of the year awards were given to Galileo, none of those feats were more impressive than senior running back, Ronzel Fox, who joined Hudari Murray (’90) and Markey Crane (’75)  as the only Lions in Galileo history with 3 all-city selections. Kyle Nelson’s player of the year selection marks the second for the Nelson family-older brother, Dylan (’10) was awarded the same honor when Galileo won the 2009 championship. Dontell Jackson captured a rare feat with the receiver and defensive back of the year honors. Congratulations to all the Lions selected, their teammates who helped make it happen, and the coaching staff in their efforts.

2009 ALL-CITY LETTERMEN

Galileo’s championship season produced 8 All-City players in the coaches’ poll. Dylan Nelson as “Player of the Year” was unanimous but Quincy Nelson’s “Running Back of the Year ” Award and Shuan Numera’s “Defensive Player of the Year” Award were bonuses in an already wonderful season full of surprises. Pat Ale (fullback) becomes the third Ale to be an All-City player. Paul Hill and Chuck Jones, the staple of Galileo’s defensive core as middle linebackers headline a 5-man defensive all-city unit from Galileo that includes Jovesa Cakau (defensive end) and Waynelle Bucker (cornerback) with Numera at defensive tackle/linebacker. Bucker, along with Quincy Nelson are the lone underclassmen representing Galileo. With zero all-city players in the prior two seasons, this Elite-8 helped propel Galileo’s historic football program back into the limelight.
