The Lions open the season with a scrimmage at St. Ignatius before facing Mills again and Berean Christian for the third time. Gonzales was a late add to replace an earlier opponent. This 2011 season is filled with youth on the varsity roster with enough sophomores to start a game.
GOAL: The GFB Calendar is designed with the “Get Better” mentality in mind. Players are required to check in if they are playing another sport in the off-season. All other players are required to participate in each of the sessions leading up to the “Official Season” that begins in August.

2011 WINTER CAMP
The 2010 Varsity Squad features 2009’s AAA Running Back of the Year, Quincy Nelson and defensive standout, Max Malloy. With a young line, senior quarterback, Jonathan Lu, will rely on Nelson to make plays and receivers, Waynelle Buckner and Erik Wilson to stretch the defense. William Kay, Wesley Choy and Robbie Trumbo round out a deep defensive back field.
Retaining 3 coaches from last season, the 2010 staff’s addition of Charlie Kaine and Donovan Phillips was enough to sustain the program’s competitive edge as the frosh/soph team came 1 touchdown shy of a championship and the varsity team, as well, was 1 touchdown away from a return trip to the championship despite losing AAA Running Back of the Year, Quincy Nelson, to an MCL tear with 3 games remaining and starting center and the heart of the lions’ defense, Max Malloy in the first game of the regular season.
The 2010 Media Guide will feature the upcoming 2010 season and a look back at the 2009 season.
