09 League Play: FS vs Balboa

YOUNG LIONS TRIPPED UP IN DEFENSIVE BATTLE

Galileo FS 6-0 6
Balboa FS 6-6 12

October 1, 2009 @ George White Field_With 6 minutes left in a defensive battle, Galileo gave up a long run by Balboa on a counter play to set up first and goal at the 5 yard line. Balboa would punch it in two plays later on a quarterback sneak. Not willing to fold, Galileo marched down the field with a big run by sophomore running back, Henok Taddesse combined with a big catch by freshman, Angelo Rubi from quarterback, Liam Ford. Despite a first down at Bal’s 25, the young lion offense would stall on downs when Ford was picked off on a 4th down play. However, two plays later, Balboa coughed up the ball at their own 11 yard line to give the lions new life. With 3 minutes remaining, in a now-or-never situation, Galileo’s struggle in red zone  doomed the young lions in four consecutive plays as time expired. Galileo finished the game without outstanding sophomore running back and linebacker, Robbie Trumbo.
